How to personalize, browse menus, and place an order.

  1. Menuva does not require a login. You can use the app immediately after onboarding.
  2. You must accept both the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy to proceed. You cannot continue until both checkboxes are selected.

During onboarding (and later in Settings), you can tailor Menuva to how you read menus and make choices.

  1. Language. Switch between English and Chinese. For the current seven-venue pilot, Menuva supports English and Chinese only.
  2. Display currency. Choose from 150+ currencies, with popular currencies pinned at the top. The default is EUR. Important: avoid selecting GBP - venue prices are shown in GBP by default and the currency setting is used for conversion when you tap a price later in the menu.
  3. Appearance. Select Light mode or Dark mode.
  4. Item attributes. Choose which nutrition fields you want displayed (where available), such as calories, fat, carbohydrates, sugars, fiber, protein, and salt.
  5. Content toggles. You can choose whether to show item images and whether to show item descriptions. Not all items have images or descriptions. We aim to keep menu data as complete and accurate as possible.
  6. Font size. Menuva uses iOS Dynamic Type. To increase or decrease text size, go to iOS Settings and adjust Dynamic Type (either for Menuva specifically, or system-wide). If your device is set to a larger font, Menuva will automatically match it.
  1. Dietary preferences. Select dietary preferences that matter to you. Some preferences automatically map to allergens. For example, selecting dairy-free will pre-select milk. Some linkages are fixed for safety and consistency. When a dietary preference auto-selects an allergen, you cannot deselect the linked allergen.
  2. Allergens (UK14). Menuva supports the UK14 regulated allergens. Your selections help filter and label items, grouping them as Suitable, Contains your restrictions, or May contain your restrictions.
  3. Missing data and safety defaults. Some items may not include allergen or dietary data. If you have any restrictions selected, items with missing data are marked as May contain your restrictions as a precaution.
  1. Quick actions. The home screen includes a Feedback button for comments and issues, a Tutorial button (top left), and a Settings button (top right).
  2. Map view. Tap the map to enter the map view. If you are not on campus, use the Warwick campus button to recenter on campus. Use the rotating arrow button to recenter on your current location.
  3. Venue list and search. At the bottom, you will see a search bar and a list of venues sorted by distance. Open venues are prioritized so they appear more prominently when available. You can also access search directly from the home screen.
  1. Opening status. When you select a venue (from the map or venue list), you will see whether it is open or closed and, if open, the time it is open until. You can also view weekly opening and closing times.
  2. Directions. Use the Directions button to open Apple Maps for navigation. You can also use the location icon to recenter the map to your current position while exploring nearby areas.
  3. Time Travel. Under the "Open until ..." status, the Time Travel option lets you view the menu at a specific date and time. This is especially useful for venues like District, where menus change daily on a biweekly rota.
  4. Supported venues. For the latest list of supported venues and food trucks, open the app or visit menuva.co.uk/menus/.
  1. Images. When available, tap an item image to view it full screen.
  2. Price conversion. Tap a price to convert it into your selected display currency.
  3. Sorting. Use the Sort button (bottom right) to change how items are ordered, such as by name, price, or nutrition fields (for example, protein or fat).
  4. Item attributes display. If you selected item attributes (like calories) during personalization, those values will appear on items where data is available, typically above the item name.
  5. Collapsible subcategories. Some sections include subcategories you can collapse or expand to reduce clutter.
  1. Add items quickly. Add an item in two ways: tap the + button to add without opening the edit view, or tap the item card (name, description, ingredients) to open the edit view, then tap Add.
  2. Change quantities. Without opening the edit view, use + and - to adjust quantity. In the edit view, you can also add or remove quantity.
  3. Add a custom note. In the edit view, use the pencil icon to add a custom note for the till operator (for example, a simple request or clarification).
  4. Duplicate an item. Use the duplicate button if you want the same item again, especially helpful when you want two similar items with different notes or options.
  5. Instant sync. Changes update immediately. When you add, customize, or adjust quantities, your basket reflects it right away.
  1. Hidden items within a category. If you selected dietary preferences or allergens, some items may be filtered. Scroll to the bottom of a category and tap May contain your restrictions or Contains your restrictions to expand and view filtered items.
  2. Fully filtered categories. If a category has no suitable items (everything is filtered into "may contain" or "contains"), the category is hidden. To find hidden categories, scroll the category list all the way to the right until you see a red i. Tap it to reveal categories that are fully filtered, then select one to view its hidden items.
  1. Customizable items. Some items include predefined customizations (for example, Americano size, or adding an extra shot). Tap the item to open the edit view and select your options.
  2. Defaults that require confirmation. If an item has a default selection that needs confirmation, Menuva may automatically open the edit view. Once you exit, the item is added to your basket automatically.
  3. Viewing nutritional info for an option. Options marked with an (i) at the end of the option name can be held (long-press) to reveal nutritional information for that option, including the ingredient statement, allergens, and macronutrient information.
  1. Open your basket. Tap the price at the bottom right to open your basket and order summary.
  2. What the basket shows. The basket shows your selected items, quantities, prices, and any customizations or notes. You can continue to edit customizations, change quantities, remove items, or clear the basket entirely.
  3. Ordering. To place your order, show the order summary to staff. They can input the items into their till/POS system.
  4. Temporary language switch for staff. If the menu language does not match your current app language, you may see a button at the top to temporarily switch to the menu's language (useful when showing staff). This reverts when you leave the summary page or when you change it back.
